Changing Climates - Droplets

Through my Changing Climates droplets, I merge artistic and scientific elements to assemble a visual dialogue about the vexing problem of climate change. To explore this environmental concern, I combine a myriad of images, juxtaposing plankton and microscopic life forms with bathymetric and hydrographic maps, spectrograms, and nautical charts specific to California.

Each droplet is a chromogenic print mounted to a plexiglass form, in varying sizes.

These works were exhibited in Weather on Steroids, an exhibition organized by the La Jolla Historical Society in collaboration with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, to address the critical gap between complex climate data and public understanding.
